Stood a lonesome pine
Laurel & Hardy 1934
Well, they aren't Lonesome and nor are they in Virginia but yesterday we took a drive up north to visit the Giant Redwoods in Armstrong Grove.
Despite all Lorettas efforts to get us lost (we had to switch on Kate to get back on track) we finally made it.
It was a beautiful trip through some stunning scenery alongside the Russian River for much of the way.
The end result was even more stunning.
The forest is awe inspiring and so, so peaceful and the trees were all we expected of them. When I was a child my father came back from a trip to America with a 'ViewMaster' which included some 3D slides of the redwoods. Finally I've seen them up close.
On our way back to Santa Rosa, we stopped for late lunch in Bodega Bay at a great seafood restaurant called Tides. I'm not great with sea-food and copped out with Fish'n'chips but Loretta and Val's plates looked very appetising and the girls said it tasted just as good as it looked.

I made a new friend outside who didn't turn his nose? up at free sea-food either.
